Denny's Build Your Own Burger - $7 Rating: (9)

Mark Lim - Growing up as a fat kid sucked. You get made fun of every day for no reason other than your unhealthy obsession for chocolate and KFC gravy. One day I had enough of the taunting and decided to embrace my chubby. I started making a funny face where I squished my head back so all my chins layered like raw bacon. Everyone in school thought it was hilarious.

The problem was that now whenever I saw someone they would ask, "Hey, do that fat face!"  or kids would tell their friends, "That's the guy who makes the fat face! Do it!!!" No girl wants to be with a guy who makes a fat face. Anyway, so the moral of the story is: I actually I don't think I have one. I just wanted to talk about being a fat kid but if there was a lesson it would be: If you are the fat kid, don't do anything like the fat face because it stays with you until you grow old and your are forced to leave town in shame.

RANT ENDS. BURGER REVIEW BEGINS

I've never been a fan of Denny's but yesterday changed everything. I received a gift card for Denny's inviting me to try out their new "Build Your Own Burger" so I decided to take my wife to eat there on our anniversary. I think it goes 25 year = Silver, 50 year = Gold, 60 year = Diamond, 3 year = Denny's. Real romantic, right?

The Burger I built (See what I named it on the next picture)

So the first thing you do when you want to Build Your Own Burger is to take the sheet on your table and check off all the awesomeness you want them to put on it.

I ended up choosing the Beef Patty on a Cheddar Bun with Cheddar Cheese, Sauteed Mushrooms, Grilled Onions, Tomatoes, Mayo, Frisco Sauce, and Onion Tanglers. I named it The OMG LOL Burger. It's actually super fun to pick your toppings. They have interesting ones like Mac'n Cheese, Hasbrowns, and Coleslaw. I was tempted to check everything but my wife gave me the disapproving face.

When my burger arrived I was very excited because it was my creation. I birthed it and named it. It was The OMG LOL burger by Mark Lim and I was proud of it.

The first bite was tasty.

The Cheddar Bun is the way to go. It's got a cheesy flavor and is lubricated enough so it slides down your gullet with ease. I was tempted to do the Grilled Potato Bread but I was happy with my Cheddar Bun. I was also on the fence about the Frisco Sauce. Basically it's thousand island sauce with a little kick. Next time I might try the Chipotle Sauce with Jalapenos. I almost ordered an absolute crazy burger with Hashbrowns, Mac 'n Cheese, a Fried Egg, Coleslaw, Chili, and Avocado but decided to get something a little normal for my first time around.

This burger was probably the best burger I've had all year. It looked great, it tasted great, and messy as hell just the way I like it. The only thing was they forgot to put on the Onion Tanglers but that's ok. It was pretty massive anyway.

The innards.

This trip to Denny's changed everything for me. There's now something that I crave and want to go back and eat. The Build Your Own Burger at Denny's is fun and tastes great. You should definitely check it out.

Oh, next time I want a Double Beef Patty, Cheddar Bun, Cheddar Cheese, Sauteed Mushroom, Grilled Onions, Tomato, Chipotle Sauce, Jalapenos, Hash Browns, Onion Tanglers, Mac 'n Cheese, Fire-Roasted Peppers and Onions, Chili, and Avocado burger. If they let me. Mmmm...

First Time Baking - Chocolate and Potato Chip Cookies

Mark Lim - When it comes to cooking I'm pretty impatient. I'm the kind of guy that cooks stuff with twice the heat so it finishes in half the time. I also hardly ever measure anything. I usually just toss everything in a bowl and whatever happens, happens. Oh, and I'm also really cheap and will substitute ingredients for the crappier versions or just entirely not include the ingredient at all.

With that said, tonight I will be baking Chocolate and Potato Chip cookies. I feel the perfect storm of chaos is brewing...

That's what they're supposed to look like. You'll see how they're not supposed to look like at the end of this blog.

Before I start I just want to say that I've never actually baked before. The closest I ever got was when I saw something on the internet and decided to make 3 minute brownies in the microwave. Wow. So disgusting but so quick.

Anyway, this recipe for Lay's Chocolate and Potato Chip Cookies was given to me as a challenge and even though I am severely incompetent in baking I decided to accept.

Here is the recipe given to me:

Chocolate and Potato Cookies - Try this recipe for a delicious twist on the traditional chocolate chip cookie!

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose gluten free baking flour or your favorite blend
  • 1/2 teaspoon xanthan gum or guar gum
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened coconut
  • 1/2 cup canola oil or butter (chewy or crisp)
  • 2 tablespoon agave nectar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup brewed coffee
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup miniature milk chocolate chips
  • 5 oz. LAY'S® Classic Potato Chips (about 4 cups or 75 chips), processed till finely minced but not mealy
Instructions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.2) Process 4 cups of LAY'S® Classic Potato Chips and weigh until you have 5 oz. (about half the bag).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together baking powder, xanthan gum, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Stir in the brown sugar, and mix until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the oil (or butter), vanilla extract, agave and 5 tablespoons coffee.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth. If the dough is too stiff, add more coffee as needed to soften. The finished dough should be thick.
  5. Stir in potato chips.
  6. Roll dough into walnut-sized balls and place two inches apart onto a sheet pan lined with parchment. Bake on the bottom rack for 15-17 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven to cool for five minutes then transfer cookies to a cooling rack.
  8. Repeat until all dough is used

So first things first. I don't like coconut so that's not going in. I have no clue what xanthan gum is so that's out. I also don't have agave nectar so I'm just going to use some honey instead. I have no clue what is going to happen.

I follow the directions exactly. 1) I mix the dry ingredients. 2) I mix the wet ingredients. 3) I mix the wet and dry ingredients. 4) I make little balls on parchment paper.

Here's where things go wrong.

10 minutes go buy and something hits me. I forgot to add the freaking chocolate chips! This is a picture of me panicking and just frantically throwing chocolate chips on top of the cookies that have been baking for over 10 minutes. Sigh.

This is the final product. It's messy and shaped funny but it's a very sweet and savory treat. Even when I totally messed everything up it still turned out pretty good. I suggest you guys try it out but DO IT CORRECTLY and tell me if you like it.

I will probably leave the baking to my wife from now.

Fast Food Nation

There's an approximate amount of fifty thousands fast food stores in the U.S declared. There is fast food about 3 000 points of sale throughout the community. Ready-made House a rampant trend has become in the world. It is only a few samples of U.S declared. It increased in Northern Europe, Japan and other locations in the community.
Fast Food

Homemade meals are affordable and just fast at every meal has quickly entered life in those days. I am a one learner in their category and check the publication. The test of the first four articles, from my point of view to quick meals has already changed and I am always more understanding on this subject.
First is once U.S An altogether dissimilar place said it was fifty yrs past. We have got a nation much more powerful and, in a sense a lazy nation.
